How this piece was made.

STAGE 01

Setting the cardigan's balance

Our original-garment references establish the deep V opening, textured knit and compact ribbed edges in both black and grey. We work from that relationship so the sleeve appliqué and front buttons remain accents within the cardigan's shape.

STAGE 02

Keeping texture through garment production

We examine the raised knit at close range before carrying it into the black and grey garments. On the production table, the key relationship is between the textured body and the flatter front band and ribbing: the borders need to define the shape without visually flattening the knit.

STAGE 03

A clean edge against the knit

The leather facing gives the button opening a defined edge against the soft, raised knit. We check its grain, the close edge stitching and the finished buttonholes together, while the small engraved back bar carries the metal detailing around to the rear.

RE:DEFINE follows the original's deep V opening and broad front bands, with the ribbed hem drawing a clear boundary under the textured body. The front and rear views let that balance be checked across the whole cardigan, rather than judging the shape from its buttons alone.

The original and RE:DEFINE both use a pronounced, raised knit that changes to straight rib columns at the edges. Keeping that contrast is important: a uniformly flat surface would lose the cardigan's texture. The embossed neck-label detail is retained as a separate, restrained finish.

We follow the original's round, four-hole button format and the narrow engraved bar used at the back. The raised rims and recessed decoration give both pieces depth against the knit.

Finishing the sleeves and hem

The cross-shaped sleeve appliqué keeps a distinct outline against the open texture of the knit, with stitching following its perimeter. RE:DEFINE carries through the original's shift to compact ribbing at the cuffs and hem, giving the soft body a more controlled edge.
