STAGE 01

Selecting the surfaces for a layered shape

Original garments sourced by our buying team provide the physical reference for development. We compare swatches against the smooth dark outer shell and the slightly lighter inner layer, checking how their tones and surfaces meet at the side-vent hem.

STAGE 02

Balancing the waistband and the hem motif

We check the broad elastic strip against the attached waistband, including its fine surface and the gathered seam beneath it. Silver-tone transfers are placed on the cut fabric and checked beside the garment, keeping the motif compact above the side-vent hem.

Applying the motif and preparing the liner label

We use the heat-press setup to apply the silver-tone motif, then examine its fine-grained surface against the black fabric. The rectangular liner label is handled as a separate trim, with perimeter stitching defining its white edge against the darker inner layer.

The dark teardrop pull and narrow zipper tape are checked together, keeping the pocket hardware visually quiet against the shell. Assembly and machine seam finishing bring the fabric pieces together, with looped stitch lines completing the joins and edges.

RE:DEFINE follows the original's layered outline: a gathered dark shell sits below a broad plain waistband, with the lighter inner legs extending beneath it. Both fronts combine angled zip pockets, side vents and a compact silver-tone motif near one hem, while the backs remain plain. The contrast between the wider shell and narrower inner layer gives the shorts their distinct two-level hem.

The original and RE:DEFINE both keep the zipper tape narrow and the glossy teardrop pull dark, so the pocket openings sit within the shell rather than adding a bright hardware accent. Lifting the shell reveals a lighter inner layer with a rounded-corner patch pocket and a white rectangular label; at the hem, separate stitched edges keep the two layers legible. The close-ups also retain the gathered join below the broad waistband and the contrast between fine dark fabric and high-contrast printed labels.
