Developing the shell and hood lining as distinct surfaces

The shell is developed from the pattern layout through to fabric spreading using the source-specified 56 g, 40D × 320T nylon taffeta, with heat-set crinkling and a coating treatment. The hood lining is reviewed separately as a 160D nylon/polyester peach-finish fabric because its raised surface differs from the shell; matching the jacket means treating the two materials as distinct rather than reading every dark panel as the same cloth.

Panel assembly is developed alongside the badge buttons, snaps and cord fittings, so each trim has a defined attachment point on the shell. The cord loop and toggle need to be read together with the nearby seam, just as the removable badge must line up with its two button positions.

The front opening is assembled around the zip tape and pull, with the adjoining shell and rib edge considered as one junction. The interior labels are then attached at their own seams to complete the inside finish.

RE:DEFINE carries the original's compact hooded shape into the front zip, with the ring-shaped pull and moulded cord toggle following the same component outline. The important comparison is how those pieces sit against the gathered shell, not just whether the fittings are black.

Our badge keeps the original's yellow compass and green lettering on a dark ground, while the letter shapes and spacing still vary in the close comparison. At the cuff and hem, both garments bring the gathered shell into a plain dark rib, making the seam line and the amount of gathering the relevant finishing details.
