The reference garment anchors the wide-leg pattern, while swatch and magnified knit checks keep the grey surface and reverse texture in view during development. The drawcord is treated as part of that same brief: its diameter, knotted ends and colour have to work with the gathered waist.

The small collegiate emblem depends on its broken ink texture as well as the outline of the lettering, so print preparation is checked against the finished mark. Waistband sewing and the short reinforcement stitches then carry the development through to the garment's openings and joins.

RE:DEFINE follows the original's wide, straight leg and closely gathered waist in the source-listed 26-count combed-cotton terry, specified at 420 g and 100% cotton. The construction comparison centres on the parallel waistband stitch rows and the bartacks at the welt-pocket ends; the source notes distinguish the outer stitching from the internal elastic attachment. Our collegiate emblem retains the broken, worn-in print character, although the individual gaps are not identical to the reference.
