DEVELOPMENT

How this piece was made.

STAGE 01

Print and Surface Development

Development focused on balancing the faded dark-grey body with the distressed “HUMAN BEING” graphic. Close inspection shows an intentionally irregular, weathered print surface that complements the washed appearance instead of reading as a clean, solid transfer.

STAGE 02

Wash-Finish Development

The body colour and print were developed as a coordinated aged finish, with production imagery documenting the garment-washing stage. The aim was to create a softened, naturally worn visual character while retaining clear contrast between the grey base and black lettering.

STAGE 03

Distressing and Construction

Controlled openings were introduced around the shoulder and seam areas as part of the design language. The attached production detail shows these distressed sections being handled at the sewing stage so their placement works with the garment construction rather than appearing as random surface damage.

The neckline comparison highlights differences in rib shape, seam treatment, colour and distress placement across the reference, developed sample and market version. The developed collar is directed toward the reference’s compact profile and subdued grey relationship, while the accompanying back view confirms the intended wide-shouldered, elongated silhouette.
